Our Story
All Pro Thornton Deck Builders got its start in 2012. We had two decades of experience in the trades and wanted to build a business that homeowners could count on. To us, that meant doing good work, keeping in touch with customers, and answering the phone even after a project was finished. That’s still how we do things today.
Building decks in Colorado isn’t always easy. The weather can be tough on outdoor structures. Freezing and thawing can crack concrete and loosen fasteners, and the bentonite clay found in much of Adams County can shift as it expands and contracts. The high elevation brings another challenge. At more than 5,000 feet, UV exposure is roughly 25 percent stronger than at sea level, which can cause boards and finishes to wear out faster.
We’ve seen what Colorado weather can do over the years. We’ve worked through plenty of winters and been called in to repair jobs that weren’t built to last. Those experiences have taught us to pay attention to the details. We install footings below the frost line, build framing to handle local snow loads, and choose materials that can stand up to the climate. These things aren’t always obvious when you look at a finished deck, but they matter when it comes to how long it lasts.
As we took on more projects, customers started asking us to build other things, too. Someone who hired us for a deck might also need new railings or a porch. Others wanted a patio, pool surround, pergola, or a place to gather around a fire table. We began taking on these projects as well, and over time, we grew into a company that handles much more than decks.
We’re still locally owned and based in Thornton, and we still use our own crews. So far, we’ve completed more than 300 projects across the metro area. A lot of our work comes from referrals, with past customers recommending us to friends and neighbors.
That’s something we really value. When someone recommends us to a neighbor, they’re putting their own trust in us, too. In a local community, word gets around, and we know that every job matters. We want our customers to be happy with the work long after we’ve packed up our tools and left. That’s the kind of reputation we’ve worked to build since 2012.
How We Work
If your deck can be repaired instead of replaced, or your porch needs a smaller fix than you feared, we’ll say so. We’d rather lose the bigger job than sell you work you don’t need — and that honesty is why people call us back.
Foundation depth, compaction, reinforcement, bracing, joint layout, hardware. None of it shows once the boards go down, and it all decides how long the structure lasts. Cheap bids save money here, which is exactly why we don’t.
No over-the-phone prices that change when we arrive. Every estimate is a written scope listing what’s going into the ground and what’s holding the structure up.
The people who design your project build it. No subcontractor handoffs, no chasing someone else’s warranty, no surprises about who’s responsible for what.
Permits, inspections, and barrier and railing compliance. Requirements differ across the metro, so we confirm what applies to your address rather than guessing.
Schedules slip in this trade more than they should. We give you a realistic timeline at the start, tell you early when weather or materials move it, and don’t disappear between the deposit and the first day on site.
The last ten percent of a job — trim, fasteners, sealing, clean-up — is where most contractors lose interest. We walk the finished project with you, fix what needs fixing, and leave the site the way we found it.
Our Services
Most people find us searching for deck builders in Thornton, CO, and discover we do considerably more than decks. As a full outdoor living contractor, we handle everything from design through construction and repair. Each service below has its own page with the details — materials, process, cost factors, and FAQs.
Multi-level, wraparound, and ground-level decks in wood and composite, designed around your yard and how you use it.
Wood, composite, cable, glass, and metal railing systems built to current height and spacing codes.
Front porch additions, porch installation, porch design, and porch repair — covered, open, screened-in, wrap-around, and portico.
New pool deck installation in concrete, paver, stone, and composite, plus repair, resurfacing, floating decks, and above-ground pool surrounds.
Paver and stamped concrete patios, walkways, and seating walls connecting the house to the rest of the yard.
Freestanding and attached pergolas, shade structures, and privacy screening built into the design, not added later.
Outdoor kitchens, fire features, seating walls, and lighting that turn a deck or patio into a room you use year-round.
Tell us what you’re picturing, and we’ll point you to the right starting place — or just come out and look.
Credentials
Anyone can call themselves one of the good deck builders in Thornton, CO. We actually are, and here’s what stands behind ours:
Ask any deck contractor you’re comparing for proof of license and current insurance before work starts. A contractor who hesitates has told you something useful. We’ll hand ours over without being asked.
Being licensed and insured is the difference between a problem being our responsibility and a problem being yours. If an uninsured crew is injured on your property, or an unpermitted structure surfaces during a sale, the homeowner bears the cost.
That’s the risk you’re actually comparing when you compare quotes.
Local Experience
A deck built to a generic national spec will fail in this climate, and we see the results of that every season. Four conditions drive almost everything we do differently:
Groundwater freezes and expands, lifting whatever sits above it. Our frost depth is significant, and structures set on blocks laid over untouched sod will move — usually unevenly, which racks a frame and pops fasteners. We set footings to the depth the site and code call for.
Much of Adams County sits on bentonite-bearing clay that swells when wet and shrinks as it dries. Drainage away from bearing points matters as much as the bearing points themselves, which is why we look at where water goes before anything else.
Stronger sun at elevation degrades finishes and composites faster, so board color, sealer, and material selection all carry more weight here. And a structure carrying a season of snow needs framing sized for it.
Around pools, hot tubs, and anywhere splash-out and irrigation keep a surface damp, timber never fully dries out and standard fasteners corrode from the inside. We spec hot-dip galvanized or stainless hardware as standard, not as an upgrade.
That’s the practical difference between local deck builders and a crew working from a template. Two identical projects in two yards a mile apart can need different foundations, and knowing which is which only comes from having built here rather than reading about it.
Service Areas
As deck builders in Thornton, CO, we serve Thornton, Denver, and the surrounding communities of Adams and Weld counties. If you’ve been searching for deck builders near me and getting national franchise results, the difference is that we’ve actually worked the soil in your neighborhood.
Conditions genuinely differ across that list. Older Denver properties tend to mean working around existing structures and tighter access. Newer Broomfield and Westminster lots bring their own drainage quirks. Much of Adams County sits on the expansive clay that drives foundation decisions. Local deck builders read those differences off the site; a national crew reads them off a form.
Don’t see your city? As deck contractors in Thornton CO and the broader Denver metro, we regularly travel beyond this list. Call (720) 740-1930 and we’ll let you know.

All Pro Thornton Deck Builders did a great job in our neighbor’s backyard, so we gave them a call. We wanted a deck that matched our home's style instead of a basic design, and they delivered exactly that. The crew listened to every detail, kept us updated throughout the project, and the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations. From the color to the wood grain, their deck refinishing work gave our older deck a clean, even look, everything feels smoother underfoot and we didn’t have to think about any of the details, they just came in, did the work, and left the space tidy!Posted on Google![]()

Composite decking systems worked well for a rental property where constant maintenance isn’t realistic. The boards lock into place with hidden fasteners, and the finish means no staining or sealing every season, which saves a lot of time.Posted on Google![]()

Needed a small extension to our existing deck to fit a hot tub. The custom deck installation blended perfectly with what we already had, and now it looks like one seamless design.Posted on Google![]()

Short and sweet, great service, no headaches. Had them patch up a few rotted boards and tighten the structure on our old deck. Quick deck repair, fair price, and everything feels much sturdier now.Posted on Google![]()

Good to Know
We’ve been locally owned and operating since 2012, with more than 25 years of trade experience behind the work. In that time, we’ve completed over 300 projects across Thornton and the north Denver metro.
Yes — licensed, bonded, and insured, with coverage in place before any crew sets foot on your property. We’ll provide proof of both without being asked, and we’d encourage you to request the same from every contractor you’re comparing.
No. The crew that quotes your project is the crew that builds it. That’s unusual for a deck contractor at our size, and it’s deliberate. That means one point of contact, one party responsible for the work, and no gaps between trades where problems usually appear.
Thornton, Denver, Westminster, Broomfield, Northglenn, Brighton, Commerce City, Arvada, Aurora, and the surrounding communities across Adams and Weld counties. If you’re searching for deck builders near me anywhere in the greater Thornton area, we most likely cover you — and if we don’t, we’ll say so rather than waste your time.
Yes. We pull the permits your scope requires and manage inspections. Requirements differ across the metro, so we confirm what applies to your specific address rather than working from a general rule.
Every project is quoted individually after we’ve seen the site. You get a written scope listing what’s going into the ground and what’s holding the structure up, at a fixed price. We don’t give numbers over the phone that change once we arrive.
Three things: we build for this climate rather than a national spec, we don’t subcontract, and we’ll tell you when a smaller job is the right one. Plenty of local deck builders do one or two of those. The combination is rarer than it should be. The last one costs us work regularly, and it’s the reason most of our business comes from referrals.
No — decks are where we started, but we work across the whole outdoor space: porches, pool decks, patios and hardscapes, pergolas and shade structures, railings, and outdoor living features like kitchens, fire pits and lighting. If it’s between your back door and your fence line, we probably build it.
Yes, and a steady share of our work is exactly that. We’ll tell you plainly what was done before, what’s salvageable, and what needs correcting — without running down the previous contractor for the sake of it.
Tell us what you’re picturing — a deck, a porch, a pool surround, or just more usable outdoor space — and we’ll come out, walk the site, and put a written estimate in front of you. The visit is free, and there’s no obligation.
Call and talk to someone who’ll be on the crew — not a call centre.
