Commerce City is a part of Adams County in Colorado and is North of Denver. It is a part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, Colorado Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to just shy of 65,000 local residents and is classed as the 18th most populous municipality in Colorado and has a total land area of approximately 26 square miles.
Commerce City was incorporated as a town in 1952, and ten years later, in 1962, it was finally incorporated as a city. Some of the first establishments of the city were many cemeteries, which are still there to this day. You can visit the Historic Rose Hill Cemetery in the heart of the city. Or travel to the southwest corner of the city to visit Riverside Cemetery. Established in 1876, it is the oldest operating cemetery in the Denver area. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the final resting place for a number of local historic figures.
